Common BSOD Errors
STOP_0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL This error occurs when a kernel-mode process attempts to access memory at an IRQL that is too high. The cause of this error is buggy device drivers, but can also be caused by virus scanners and backup tools.
STOP 0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED This error occurs when a kernel-mode process attempts to execute an unknown, illegal processor instruction. The usual suspect in this case is problems with msgina.dll and is caused by 3rd party remote control programs and ASPI32.sys.
TOP 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE This error occurs when Windows cannot access the system partition during system startup. The cause oif this is either a failed or failing boot device, an incorrect parameter in the boot.ini file, or most likely an incompatible IDE/SCSI driver. This is quite common when replacing a motherboard with one that has a different hard disk controller, or anytime a hard disk controller is changed.
STOP 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA This error occurs when the system requests data from memory that is not there and cannot be written to the page file. This can happen with bad memory or bad printer drivers.
STOP 0x0000007F UNEXPECTED_KERNAL_MODE_TRAP This error is caused when the CPU errors out and the kernel cannot compensate for the error. This usually happens when overclocking a CPU, or when there is a bad memory chip in the system.
TOP 0x00000024 NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM This error occurs when there is a problem or corruption of NTFS.sys. This is usually caused by faulty or failing hard disks or 3rd party disk defragmentation tools.
STOP 0x0000002E DATA_BUS_ERROR This error occurs when there is a parity error in the memory. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred this is a hardware issue. Bad memory, misconfigured BIOS settings or incompatible hardware are the usual suspects.
